Alexander McQueen Spring 2011 RTW

Sarah Burton showcased the Spring 2011 collection for Alexander McQueen in Paris, and the first runway show since the designer's passing earlier this year.  Burton has worked for the label for the past 14 years, but nobody knew how her first official collection (Resort 2011 came out in June) as head designer would come out.  Thankfully, Burton has more than pleased fashionistas all over the world by staying true to the McQueen vision by incorporating signature tailored brocade suits, dresses in exaggerated hourglass silhouettes, lots of feathers, and delicate embroidery.  However, Burton has admitted to focusing on a more "tender" side of the label.  "I don't think the show will have as much angst in it.  I think it will be softer," said Burton.
Here are some pictures of the show.
A pattern reminiscent of the gold leaves from McQueen's last designed collection (Fall 2010 RTW) and the pattern and silhouette of dresses from Spring 2009 RTW.  The layered bad adds a bit of punk to the flirty design.

This monarch butterfly dress from the Spring 2011 RTW collection is also inspired by the other two dresses, but with more drama and black-tie

An ethereal dress with a cinched wait, embroidered top, and voluminous lower half

The top embroidery and coloring of this Fall 2008 dress is very similar to the recent more structured 2010 dress.
A funky pattern McQueen would certainly approve of on an exaggerated silhouette also similar to McQueen style
A bold off the shoulder flowing and ruffled dress with a peasant blouse style type top finished with lovely lace and embroidery and a ruffled ombre bottom
A beautifully beaded gold tinted dress with flowing cream colored feathers...stunning and dramatic
The coloring in this dress has been done gorgeously and the ruffles and top give the piece dramatic flair

These two dresses have similar ruffles and blue coloring, this one is from the Spring 2009 RTW collection
This was my first dress from the Spring 2011 collection.  A grey white color attracted me first, from the shoes to the dress.  The bottom was a complete mass of soft peasant feathers connected to a tight fitting flower embroidered top with bold shoulders and a high neck

This Fall 2008 has the same flair, coloring, and soft feathers of the new one
